HKPUG 2009 March Cafe Gathering was held on 6th March and it was a populous and lively event. About 50 members attended the event. The gathering started at 7:30pm but some members even arrived before 7pm to hope for having a peek of the classic palm OS handhelds.
Most members arrived and had their meals in the restaurant before 8pm. Due to the popularity of the event, the seats were not not enough. The members who finished their meal had been very generous that giving their seats to let the members who arrived later to had dinner as well.
The climax of the gathering was the talk given by Mr. Francis Fong from Synergy Technologies (Asia) Limited (The first distributor of Palm OS handhelds of Hong Kong). He had told us about some interesting stories about sourcing the handheld to Hong Kong and his experience of being a Palm OS handheld user.
What followed the talk was the photo taking time. All attending members who laid their "priceless" Palm OS handhelds on the tables and made a big "mosaic".
Palm OS units with different brands and in different form factors (PDA, smartphones, wrist watches) had shown up in the event and some even were never released in Hong Kong. Some members also brought the accessories (like keyboards for Palm) which were now hard to find.
