the new 3G iPhone require in store (apple-your cel phone company)purchase and activation, there will be no online purchase, the price of 2yr contract make (black market iPhone) very unlikely(price), as for price in HK, Steve Jobs say during his keynote 1:40 that the "MAX" price of 3G iPhone is $199us, I have notice in a report the uk o2 already have a even lower price for the upcoming 3Giphone

Why Apple set the price of this iPhone so low? It does not like Apple's style. Apple product's initial price seldom gives us a "Low price" feeling. Steve like to use low price to make a large population of iPhone user? To get more money when the user using the iPhone to buy something from Apple online like iTune?

Same feeling to me as his target is 10mil sales volume by the end of 2008.

But I still feel excited when I know that Hong Kong is one of the 22 countries/cities to launch at 11 Jul!

The reason for Apple to have such low price is of course expand unit sale/market, but the ability to sell it at a lost is due to "phone company" pay back apple on each unit sell up front but getting those money back on mandatory fix 2yr contract on voice-data, no more share profit as in the old day.
good for your cel phone company, a very bad day for black market(water merchandise).

If this iPhone is still missing the following function, I may use it as a WiFi web browser, MP3 player and video player, haha, for SMS and email, will need to use back my Centro:
1. Copy and paste
2. Accurate and quick character input method
3. Quick search for a contact record.
